"a puppet is a natural transgressor,
entering where no human dares”
If an individual can feel empathy for a puppet then what is the possibility of that individual learning the skills that enable them to empathise with another human being?
There is a childlike fascination in all of us when it comes to puppets. Kate’s theory is that it is because there is less risk empathising with something that is not real, as opposed to dealing with another human being.
Kate believes that if someone is able to empathise with a puppet, they can begin to learn the skills needed to empathise with other people in their societies, thus enabling a more cohesive understanding of each other and our communities.
PowellPuppets can facilitate workshops in a wide variety of educational and community settings that are cross-curricular , inter-cultural, and multi generational and can be adapted to your needs.
